Experience beyond the product label
A replacement that matches your old pump may still be the wrong fit. If the waterfall never had enough flow—or you keep replacing failed pumps—the original selection, installation or maintenance may need a closer look.
We encounter pumps throughout our pond cleaning, maintenance and installation work across Utah. That experience helps us look beyond the advertised flow rate to the water, plumbing, filtration and waterfall the pump actually has to support.
We sell ShinMaywa, Danner ProLine and Atlantic pumps, with ShinMaywa often our preferred recommendation based on our field experience. We can also source other options when the application calls for them. Ask us about current availability.
We discuss your feature, identify existing equipment and help select a pump for the flow, debris and filtration requirements. Many of our recommendations are submersible; we also sell and install external pumps where appropriate.
Placement, water supply, pump access and plumbing all deserve attention. We can install your pump and coordinate with qualified electricians when electrical work is needed.
A blocked intake, filter or pipe can look like pump failure. We assess the system before recommending replacement and document our work with photos for future service.
A broad spillway needs enough water to cover it. A narrow stream section has limits on how much flow it can carry. We ask about the appearance and sound you want, then consider the feature’s construction.
Waterfall height, plumbing length, pipe diameter, fittings and filtration all influence how much water a pump can deliver. We use the pump’s performance curve to assess flow against those requirements.
Where suitable, flow-control valves, compatible speed controls or a variable frequency drive can offer adjustment. Multiple pumps may also serve separate waterfalls or focal points. These options need to fit the pump and system; buying the biggest pump is not a substitute for selecting it correctly.
A pump should help move water through the feature, rather than leave stagnant areas. We assess intake placement, access and the route water takes through the pond.
Where the design allows, we often favor a suitable pump vault. Our service work has exposed problems with undersized or damaged skimmers, clogged prefilters and restricted water supply. The answer is a correctly sized, accessible installation—not simply swapping one container for another.
We also look for unnecessary plumbing restrictions. Appropriate pipe sizing, shorter practical runs and gentler bends can help reduce friction. For debris-bearing water, pump selection includes the manufacturer’s solids-handling limits and the material the pump is likely to encounter.
When we install or service a system, we photograph and document the work. That gives our team useful context when you need help again.
Keep debris from restricting the pump’s water supply. Leaves, algae and objects around the intake or impeller can reduce flow and cause problems. Unusual noise or vibration deserves attention.
Disconnect power before handling or cleaning the pump, and follow its maintenance instructions. Our pond cleaning and maintenance services can help address the debris around the system as well as the pump itself.
Winter operation depends on the pump, the pond’s construction, exposed plumbing and how the feature handles ice buildup. Some systems need pump removal, drainage or other winterization work.
Mountain properties may need a different approach from southern Utah installations. Before spring startup, we check for obstructions and adequate water supply, then test operation under suitable conditions. We can help assess what your setup needs.
Often that is a useful starting point, but matching the label does not tell us whether the old pump was suitable. Bring the label and photos of the feature. If the pump is discontinued or the system has struggled, we can assess alternatives against the actual setup.
Yes. We provide installation and troubleshooting for pumps purchased elsewhere. We do not provide a product warranty for those pumps. Buying through us lets you discuss selection before purchase and work with the same team on installation.
Debris, blocked filters or plumbing, water supply and pump condition can all be factors. Start with our pump troubleshooting guide or contact us for an assessment. Replacing the pump without finding the cause can leave the original problem in place.
That depends on the model, condition, parts and labor involved. Some repairs can approach the cost of replacement. We can help assess the options without applying one price rule to every pump.
